My favorite podcasts—Or how to increase your workout time

I love a good podcast. And I really enjoy walking. Walking and podcasts go hand-in-hand. While aiming for my 10,000 daily steps, I depend on podcasts to keep me entertained and engaged so I keep moving.

If you struggle to stay motivated while working out, try listening to podcasts (or audiobooks). Sometimes my morning workout goes longer than intended just so I can continue listening to a great interview.

 My 11 Favorite podcasts

What I listen to depends on my mood. Most of the time it's a writing, business, or marketing podcast.

So here are my favorites.

Writing

I don’t know that I’ll ever write a book. Probably not fiction, but I have several ideas for non-fiction. Regardless, I do enjoy learning more about the indie publishing industry.

The Creative Penn

What I enjoy most about Joanna’s podcast besides all the writing stuff is her business savvy. She is smart and driven and I love her business model. She’s a great example of running a lean, solopreneur enterprise and having multiple streams of income.

Sell More Books Show

This podcast features the top news stories about indie publishing. I learn a lot from the coverage and their takes on what is happening in the industry.

Marketing

Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Amy has a great energy that transmits well through a podcast. I learn so much from her and her guests. She’s very relatable with an easy, friendly vibe; like I could sit down with her and have a glass of wine and not be intimidated. She’s so open and honest.

Business

Read to Lead

I’ve been tuning in to Jeff for four years now. He’s got a terrific voice, an engrossing interviewing style, and I’ve gotten a number of book recommendations from him.

Lead To Win

Michael Hyatt has been around forever and knows his stuff. And while the topics tend to revolve around leading teams in business, you can apply most to everyday life.

Honorable Mentions

Brilliant Business Moms

Beth Ann is no longer recording new episodes, but the backlist is a wealth of good advice for the mompreneur.

She Did It Her Way

I don’t listen to every episode but I enjoy the ones I listen to. She interviews female entrepreneurs about how they built their business’.

The James Altucher Show

I listen based on the guest. I probably should listen to them all because I enjoy most of what I hear.

Organize 365

Lisa is another one with terrific energy. She’s all about home organization and while I consider myself pretty organized, after I listen to her—I want to get even more organized. She’s very motivating.

Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine

All about medical history and the crazy ways doctors have tried to help people and cure illness. It is absolutely fascinating. It’s produced by a married couple. She’s a doctor. He’s the straight man. They’re entertaining and informative.

The Thomas Jefferson Hour

Early American history as seen through the eyes of Thomas Jefferson, portrayed by Clay Jenkinson. When I listen to this podcast, I come away with the desire to be more cultured, educated, and enlightened.
